Clinitas soothe eye-drops contains sodium hyaluronate, which a natural occurring bio polymer is found widely in connective tissue and in the vitreous body of the human eye. It is capable of binding and retaining large amounts of water (1 gram can hold up to 6 litres of water).

Sodium hyaluronate also has mucomimetic properties which enhance mucin volume and improve tear film stability. It also has ideal rheological properties.

Sodium hyaluronate also help to stimulate the development of epithelial cells (Skin Cells) on the eye's surface, which can help to heal damage to the surface of the eye resulting from lack of lubrication. The long-lasting film also protects the surface of the eye during the healing process.When applied as eye drops it forms a transparent film that coats the surface of the eyeball. The film is able to 'hold on' to water molecules in the tears, which helps keep the eyeball moist, and remains stable when you blink, thus providing lasting lubrication for the eyes. The drops are used as artificial tears to moisten, lubricate and soothe dry eyes.
